This is indeed light-blocking. I turned out to be quite easy to sew as well. I used it to make curtains for my nephews' room.

As advertised, this fabric is truly blackout. I hung up a panel last night and couldn't see the streetlight or morning sun at all. So happy to have had a really good night's sleep. Best investment I've made in years! Can't wait until bedtime.
